June 2002- GRICUA negotiates Federal Preference
Power Agreement with Western Area Power
Administration (WAPA)
June 2002- Council adopts “Community-Wide
Electrical Energy Plan”
Dec 2002- Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA)/ San
Carlos Irrigation Project (SCIP) agree to GRICUA
placing 69 to 12 kV substation at Lone Butte
Jan 2004- Adoption of “Master plan for the
electrical system on the Gila River Reservation
utilizing the Colorado River Storage Project
(CRSP) hydroelectric power allocation.”
Feb 2004- Electric Service Contract for CRSP
allocation signed with WAPA
July 2004 P.L. 93-638 Contract proposal submitted
to BIA for management of SCIP.
